Why You Shouldn't Buy Kyle Shanahan's Endorsement of Jimmy Garoppolo

Kyle Shanahan: “I expect Jimmy Garoppolo to be our starter next year.”

Ben Maller: “I'm going to set the odds at -250 that the 49ers move on from Jimmy Garoppolo. That implies a 70% chance… The reason I’m going so high is because the 49ers have all the options and have all the leverage in this deal. They can trade or waive Garoppolo and save over $24 million in 2021. Kyle Shanahan was asked a loaded question and he tried to become Fred Astaire and put his tap dance shoes on here… ‘I expect Jimmy Garoppolo to be our starter next year’ is the money quote, but in context, when you look at the full quote it doesn’t sound like a ringing endorsement for Garoppolo. Here’s the FULL quote: ‘But to think that we’ve made any decisions on anybody going into the future isn’t the case. Jimmy has won a lot of games for us, and it’s a lot harder to win games for us when he’s not here. Just hoping we can get him back.’ I can see several high-profile quarterbacks changing teams: Cam Newton, Matt Stafford, Mitch Trubisky, Matt Ryan, Sam Darnold, and even Baker Mayfield.” (Full Video Above)

Listen to Ben Maller explain why he thinks Jimmy Garoppolo is a ‘dead man walking’ in San Francisco, as Maller rejects Niners’ head coach Kyle Shanahan’s recent ‘Vote of Confidence’ for Jimmy G.

Check out the video above as Maller details why he thinks Garoppolo could fall victim to one of the wildest off-seasons in NFL history when it comes to the upcoming game of musical chairs of quarterbacks on the move.
