Dan and the Danettes discuss the value of Juan Soto as he hits the open market in Major League Baseball’s free agency window. The predicted contract is looking to be in the $600M/10-year range and Dan thinks that’s way too much money and for way too long for a guy that isn’t really a gate attraction. If he were an MLB GM, he’d take a hard pass on the inevitable bidding war that is coming.
Dan Patrick: “I don’t want him... No, no, not interested. It’s so much money over so many years, I just, I have no interest in that... Juan Soto; talented player, bounced around a couple of teams already, going to be bouncing around again, and you’re going to pay him $600M? If I’m paying that kind of money, I want you to be a gate attraction. I want you to be a box office star. Juan Soto is not a box office star.”
