Hockey Player Saves Skater Who Had Heart Attack During Pickup Game

A hockey player from North Carolina is lucky to be alive after suffering a heart attack in the middle of a pickup game at Pineville Ice House. Jib Street was skating in his defensive zone when he suddenly collapsed onto the ice. Luckily for Street, another player happened to be a doctor and rushed to his aid.

Dr. Craig Bryant skated over and started performing CPR while other players called 911. Another skater grabbed the rink's Automated External Defibrillator, which Bryant used to try to restart Street's heart.

“It took a village, there were so many guys that were involved. Whether it was this guy that guy, the guys did what they could do,” Bryant told Fox 46.

Despite not having a pulse for nearly five minutes, Street survived and made a full recovery.

Street credits Dr. Bryant's quick reaction for saving his life and presented him with a special gift, a signed Wayne Gretzky jersey.

“When I did see the video a couple of days ago, it is difficult to watch yourself go down and lie motionless on the ice. The gratitude comes from how fast this guy responded-- that’s the miracle," Street told the news station. "I’m skating with an emergency room doctor.”
